Football: Team SP vs Sheldwich

St Peter’s football team opened with a strong formation in the eight a side football match against Sheldwich primary school on Friday 3rd November 2017 at Shedwich school ground. The mixed team of year 5 and 6 pupils played a 1-3-2-2 format and were well-drilled in marking by Miss Jones. The Shedwich team broke through St Peter’s defence late in the first half to open the scoring. Shortly afterwards, Alex countered with a dead-on strike to bring the score level into half time.

The second was half was full of opportunities for both teams; Sheldwich grabbed a second goal about 10 minutes in, which was swiftly equalised by Tommy after a series of full length attacks from both teams. Sheldwich managed to slip in a third and decisive goal close to the end of the match following a series of scrappy corner kicks.

The outstanding player of the match was the defender Emmanuel (St Peter’s year 6), who cleared a succession of attacks from the strong opposition strikers.

The St Peter’s team looked great in their blue and yellow kit, and left the pitch having played a creditable game against the lucky Sheldwich team, who won 3-2.
