Class 3 Letter Term 4 2018-2019

1st March 2019
Dear Parents, Carers and Pupils of Class 3,
I hope you all had a good half term and are ready for an exciting term ahead.
Term 3 curriculum content
In English we will be continuing to read ‘The Iron Man’ and the children will be writing a dialogue between two fictional characters and also a newspaper report.
In Maths the children will be working on fractions and then we’ll be looking at 2D and 3D shapes.
In our Science lessons the children will be learning about light and shadows which will include some shadow investigations on the playground.
In PSHCE, we will be focusing on how to have a healthy lifestyle.
Later in the term we will have our regular Art and DT days. Last term I was very impressed by the dream catchers and catapults the children made!
PE will be on Fridays and this term the children will be working on their tennis skills with Miss Sillwood. Additionally, on Wednesday afternoons the children will be doing PE with Mr McCue from the Canterbury Sports Partnership. Mr McCue will be covering outdoor and adventurous activities, which includes lots of map reading around the school grounds.
Finally, in RE, the children will be learning about salvation and why Christians call the day Jesus died ‘Good Friday’.
The Gospel Show
As you may know, every Easter year 3 and 4 put on an Easter production, with year 4 taking most of the speaking roles. We will be practising for this every week this term and I hope you can make it to the performance - date below. Later in the term, we will be sending out more information regarding what the children need to wear and the exact time of the show. Thanks in advance for your help and support with this.

I look forward to meeting you again at the end of March to discuss how your child is getting on. Please look out for an email soon, which will enable you to book a meeting.
