St Peter’s News

2nd November 2018

Doing all the good we can through faith, love and excellence

  •  We have had a great start to the new term, with the children settling back into learning quickly. Class newsletters have also been sent out today with lots of helpful information about what Term 2 has in store for your child.

  • It has been lovely to see the warm welcome that our pupils and staff have given to children who have just joined the school. We hope our new families will settle in quickly to life at St Peter’s.

  • Our school council have met this week and the Junior Leadership Team have also had their first meeting with the Senior Leadership Team! These young leaders have begun planning for a range of exciting initiatives and projects for the year.

Forest School
At the end of last term we enjoyed hearing Class 2 share their learning and favourite memories from their forest school sessions. This week Class 5 have had the opportunity to begin their forest school adventure.

We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude to Nethergong Camping for their generous donations of resources and expertise – Mr Mills is kindly giving up his time to join Class 5 on a Wednesday morning this term.

Donations – if you have any old/ unwanted pots or pans, small tools or handheld drills, seasoned logs or an old sink, we would love to take these off your hands to further develop the forest school.

This week worship has been led by Mrs Duffy, Revd Tim, Revd Dr Glass, Miss Mills and Mr Way.
We have been considering the theme of Peace. It has been lovely to have the children come  to tell us about times when they have made choices to help bring peace in situations  during the day.

Remembrance
This week and next the children are thinking about Remembrance. Many classes have visited the Cathedral to see the ‘Remember Me?!’ exhibition and the Canterbury War Horse. Next week we will all be making poppies and talking to Revd Tim about what it means to remember and what we can learn for the future.

You are warmly invited to join us for the school Remembrance service – Friday 9th November at 9.15am in the church. Revd Tim would also like to invite you to the Sunday service in the church on 11th November, from 10.30am for an hour.
