St Peter's News 29.4.19

  • A very warm welcome back to school as we start Term 5. We hope you enjoyed the holidays and the fabulous weather over the Easter weekend.
  • This term is relatively short, but will be busy as ever. Children in Year 6 will be taking their SATS in the week beginning 13th May, whilst children in Year 2 will also be taking tests this term. This will be kept as low key as possible and the children need not feel anxious in any way.
  • Our School Council have met this week with staff from Caterlink, so that they could share their thoughts about our school dinners and what if anything they feel could be done to improve these.
  • Some of our year 5 children attended a Maths competition at Junior Kings’ School and represented St Peter’s very well.

PTFA Meeting - Join us for a meeting in school on Tuesday 30th April at 9am.
Our Parent Teacher and Friends Association would love for you to get involved. It is a group of parents and staff who work together to plan events which are fun for children and their families, help us build community and also to raise money for the school. During the summer term, events will include bake sales and the summer fair. Helping out with these events is a great way to get involved and get to know new people, whether you have had a child at the school for 6 months or 6 years!

Phonics Screening Check information meeting – Friday 3rd May, 9am in the hall
Parents of children in Year 1 are invited to come to a brief meeting to talk about the upcoming phonics
screening check that your child will be doing. Lots of practical advice about how you can support them at
home too! If your child is in Year 2 and will be retaking the check this year, you are very welcome too.

Extra-Curricular Clubs – Summer Term
All clubs will begin next week, from Monday 29th April. For any after school clubs, please remember to come
to the parent gate onto the playground, rather than through the school office, to collect your child.

Parent Pay
Please bear with us as we try to get the ParentPay system up and running. Our office staff are working hard on this and we will send out more information about signing up as soon as we can.

In our collective worship this week we have been thinking about the theme of “Courage”, as well as learning more about Saint George. Worship has been led by Mrs Beard, Miss Webb, Mrs Wilson and Mr Way.

At the start of the new term we will also be talking to the children about how we can followJohn Wesley’s rule in our everyday lives;
“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”
