Doing all the good that we can through faith, love and excellence

Year 2 have enjoyed their Forest School sessions on a Wednesday with Miss Bergin and Mr Brogan. This week they cooked vegetarian sausages in our fire pit.

On Tuesday and Wednesday we welcomed 6 student teachers from Canterbury Christ Church University. These trainee teachers will generally be with us each Tuesday throughout the year and we are delighted to be playing such a key role in developing the next generation of teachers.

Last Thursday, St Peter’s children won the Fair Play trophy at a tag rugby competition at Canterbury Rugby Club. It is very pleasing to know that the St Peter’s values are still adhered to on the sports field.

On Monday both a girls’ team and a boys’ team represented St Peter’s at a football event at the University of Kent and again played with enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Last week in our Friday celebration worship we introduced our new Junior Leadership Team.

Head Girl – Sophie Pascal                                      Head Boy – Patrick Doyle
Deputy Head Girl - Megan Coleman                   Deputy Head Boy – Noah D’Elia

All of these children applied for the roles and these applications were considered by key staff. We were very impressed with all of the applications we received and it was difficult to choose. We look forward to seeing how our young leaders will contribute to shaping St Peter’s in the coming year. We will shortly be announcing our team of prefects and sports leaders for this year.

This week worship has been led by Mrs Duffy, Revd Tim, Mrs Twiddle, Bishop Trevor and Mr Way.  We have been learning about Psalms. Bishop Trevor reminded us to follow our school’s  values ‘today’ and live life in the moment and in the right way. Jack (yr6) helped by  reading Psalm 1 aloud.

We love to celebrate birthdays at St Peter’s, with all children having a chance to sit on the famous “Birthday Bench” in celebration worship and receive a small present. We appreciate that in the past some parents have brought in a small treat for their child to share with friends. Due to having many children with different allergies and as a school that promotes healthy eating, can we please ask that you refrain from bringing food or other treats in to share.
