Home Learning

Reading

Children need to be reading at home everyday and then and adult needs to record this in their reading record. Children must then bring their reading book and record into school everyday. If their book needs changing, we will change it. Your child will also be read with 1:1 once a week. Your child's day is written on the inside of their reading journal.

Spellings

I will be sending new spellings home every Friday. As part of their homework, your child needs to learn these each week ready for the spelling test on the following Friday. They need to have their spelling book in school every Friday. The spelling tests will go in the back of their spelling book and the new spellings will go in the front. The first spelling test will be in the first week.

We have now worked through all of the year 2 mandatory spellings so this term we will be learning spellings that we will be using in our writing lessons. I have decided to have two groups so that children have the most appropriate spellings. Each child has been told which group they are in. If they have forgotten, please feel free to ask me on the gate or via the class 2 email. Please speak to me if you have any feedback about spellings. I’m always striving to create a system that works best for the children.

Year 2, Term 5 Homework

Every week, children are expected to practice their Maths KIRFs and times tables and to learn their spellings. Children are also expected to read daily. In addition to this, you can choose which of the following activities you wish to take part in. Once completed, you can bring them in or send a picture to the class email page.
