Reading
We believe reading is so important to help children across the curriculum as well as inspiration for their creative writing and reading for pleasure. Children are encouraged to read each day at home and at school to support their fluency and comprehension skills. Please let me know if you need any recommendations for fantastic books you could share at home! Please ensure your child brings in their reading book, reading record and spelling book every day.
We value communication with families to provide the best support and education for your child. Please feel free to speak to me at the end of the day or contact me via email If you have any questions or good news to share. Alternatively, you can email on our class email class3@st-peters-canterbury.kent.sch.uk
Best wishes and thank you for your support,
From the Year 3 team - Mrs Flanagan, Miss Drury and Miss Hall.

Learning in Class
This table shows what we will be learning about this term
Home Learning
Homework will be sent out on a Friday. There will be either a piece of English or Maths work to complete.
Children will also need to practice spellings, times tables and reading at home.
We also have an additional homework menu (below). You can choose to complete different activities from the menu linked to our topic (this is optional). Please return it before Thursday.
Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRFs)
To help develop children’s fluency in mathematics, we ask them to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term.
Children should aim to practice their KIRFs at least 3 times a week.
Please see below this term’s list of KIRFs which are aligned to the new Maths curriculum. They are intended to be challenging and where possible the children will be taught the necessary Maths in lessons beforehand.
If you have any questions about how to help your child with these at home please do let us know!
Spellings
Here are the spellings for this term. They will be tested each week on a Friday. Tests will be returned home in spelling books. Please make sure spelling books are in bags every day. We will let your child know which spelling group they are in.
