Class 4

WELCOME TO THE CLASS 4 WEBSITE:

Welcome back to term 6 Class 4!

The Year Four team includes myself, Mrs Grzes, Miss Garbutt and Mrs Atkins. Mrs Grzes, Miss Garbutt and Mrs Atkins are our teaching assistants. Mr Christmas will be teaching the class on a Tuesday afternoon.

The children need to bring a water bottle into school every day and they can bring in a healthy snack for break time.

PE

In Term Six, our PE lesson will take place on a Tuesday morning. Please ensure that the children have their PE kits in school on this day, they are allowed to wear this to school on PE days if preferred. School PE kit consists of a house colour PE t-shirt and black shorts. Suitable outdoor PE kit for winter/colder days (in addition to t-shirts and shorts) could include black jogging bottoms and trainers. The children will also be doing Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon and they will need appropriate clothing for this session. Please see link below regarding clothing for Forest School:

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday and it will be due back in to school by the following Wednesday. If your child finds any of the homework difficult, please feel free to contact me and we can go through this with your child at school. Spellings will be given at the beginning of term and the children will then be tested on a Friday morning. These can also be found below.

Reading

We believe that Reading is so important to help children with their overall learning across the curriculum and to inspire their creative writing! Children in Class Four should read for fifteen minutes a day to support their reading fluency and comprehension skills. Please let me know if you need any recommendations for any brilliant books!

If you have any questions and wish to contact me, please either contact the school office or email me at:

Best wishes and thank you for your support,

English: Support and guidance for parents/ carers

Here is the writing checklist we use in Year 4. This is what we are working towards including in our work.

Maths: support for parents/ carers (Key Instant Recall Facts)

To help develop children’s fluency in mathematics, we ask them to learn Key Instant Recall Facts each half term.

Children should aim to practise their KIRFs at least 3 times a week.

Please see attached this term’s list of KIRFs which are aligned to the new maths curriculum. They are intended to be challenging and where possible the children will be taught the necessary maths in lessons beforehand.

If you have any questions about how to help your child with these at home please speak to your child’s class teacher.
