READING:

In class, we will read a range of texts- including fiction, non-fiction and poetry- on a daily basis. We will use our VIPERS reading curriculum. More information on this is in the Reading curriculum folder.

Our Class Novel will continue to be 'The Explorer' by Katherine Arundell.

** Please ensure your child is reading for at least 15 minutes per day at home and filling out their reading record.**

WRITING:

We will continue with our Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling sessions which can be stand-alone or as a starter before our Writing sessions. Our Writing journey begins with immersive lessons which can use drama, role play and discussion. The key features of the genre are discussed at length and pupils are exposed to high-quality models (What a Good One looks Like) The writing journeys take 2/3 weeks- dependent on the pupil's confidence and the specific genre. Key skills are practised daily building up to a long write.

In Term 6, we will focus on POETRY, DESCRIPTION and NARRATIVE.

We will use clips from Avatar from Literacy Shed Plus as a writing stimulus.

Maths in Term 6 will see us consolidate all of the skills we learned this year. Some of these include the following areas:

* shape (2D and 3D shapes and their properties)

WEEKLY SPELLING

 Spelling Shed:

I am delighted to say that St. Peter's Methodist PS have invested in an exciting new program called Spelling Shed. The pupils have their logins and have begun to work through weekly assignments. Please support them at home with this as it is an amazing and fun way for them to learn key spelling sounds, rules and words.
