GSO Test

Class 4

Welcome to Class 4!

We hope you have all had a wonderful Summer Holidays and the children are ready and excited to return to school.  It might feel little strange coming back to school after being away for so long, but we are really looking forward to seeing you all and we have planned some exciting activities too.
The Class 4 teaching team will be Mrs Wilson (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Walters (Wednesday - Friday).  We are also fortunate to have Mr Brogan and Mrs Campbell as our teaching assistants to support you with your learning too.
Please have a look at our curriculum map for this term to see what we will be learning. Our main topic will be The Romans and we have planned a range of exciting activities, including a Roman Day in school. We will also be able to go on local visits into Canterbury to see how the Romans influenced our local area and lives today.

Please note that PE is on a Tuesday and Friday and the children are required to wear their PE kits for these sessions.
This term, Class 4 will also have Forest School on a Tuesday afternoon with Miss Bergin. Please ensure the children bring in appropriate clothing to wear for this session.
The children will also need:
  • a water bottle in school every day
  • a coat
  • a healthy snack e.g. a piece of fruit or a vegetable (please no crisps, chocolate or biscuits)

To contact Mrs Walters or Mrs Wilson please either contact the school office, or email using the address below:

Spellings will be tested on Friday mornings. To help you learn you spellings have a go at some of these activities:

  • Draw a picture and hide your spelling words inside.
  • Type out your spellings, using different fonts and colours for each word.
  • Write your spellings in alphabetical order
  • Cut and stick letters from old newspaper and magazines to write out your spellings.
  • Write a silly story and try to include all your spelling words.

In Class 4, we love reading.  It would be fantastic for the children to continue reading their books at home too.

Below is a grid with suggested activities to encourage reading at home.  Please let us know how you get on!
