PSHCE and Relationship Education
At St Peter’s we ensure that every child is guaranteed a Personal, Social, Health and Citizens (PSHCE) education. It is a subject through which pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future. The curriculum at St Peter’s covers mental and physical health and wellbeing, keeping safe, healthy relationships and living in the wider world. We have ensured that this subject area encompasses our school vision through which we are dedicated in providing a happy and caring community where everyone feels safe, valued and equal.
At St Peter’s the Sex and Relationships Education (SRE) is to put in place the building blocks needed for positive and safe relationships of all kinds, in and outside the school community. It is about the understanding of the importance of stable, loving and healthy relationships, including the growing world of social media. The children will also learn about how they can look after themselves and the changes that might occur through their lifetime.
As a result of teaching this curriculum, we aim to have pupils who are confident in making the right decisions, can make themselves safe on and offline, and are physically and mentally well. Therefore, their relationships with friends, family and others will be happy, caring and positive.
