PSHE and Relationships Education
Our Curriculum Intent
At St Peter’s Methodist Primary School, Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE), enables our children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society. It aims to help them understand how they are developing personally and socially, and tackles many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. We provide our children with opportunities for them to learn about rights and responsibilities and appreciate what it means to be a member of a diverse society. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.

Progression in PSHE and RSE
We are now using the Kapow Scheme of Work for PSHE and RSE at St. Peter's. We use the lessons on Kapow and adapt these to meet the needs of our children./docs/PSHE_Progression_of_Skills_and_Knowledge.pdf

How we assess PSHE
At St Peter’s we follow the KAPOW scheme for PSHE. At the end of Terms 1, 3 and 5 the class teacher will identify those children working at the expected level and those not yet secure. This will be based on statements linked to what has been covered during that term. Where there are areas identified that children are not secure in, lessons can be re-capped or future lessons adapted to best meet pupil needs.
